Deadline.com is reporting Zac Efron will be playing the lead role in a adaptation of Image comic book "Fire." It follows a college student recruited by the CIA, then finds out he has been marked for termination by his very employers...
In the Image graphic novel the Synopsis goes as follows: A spy thriller, is centered on a young Jewish-American man named Benjamin "Ben" Furst, who is initially introduced as a college student studying political science. After passing several tests, including a fake mugging, he is recruited by a beautiful young woman named D. D. into the Central Intelligence Agency and told that he is going to be the first agent of Project Fire, an experiment to test whether training agents out of ordinary citizens can be successful.
The "Fire" feature film screenplay is coming directly from Brian Michael Bendis under producers David Engel and Neal Moritz.
There is no director listed as yet but the report has stated that the "New Avengers" writer closed the deal after shopping "Fire" around to many studios and arriving at Universals door step last Friday.
He also wrote this on twitter: "Yes, my daughter knows I know Zac Efron, it took some explaining. She thought there was a party going on that she isn't invited to."
